Professional Handyman: Job Description, Duties and Requirements
Professional handymen are general fix-it specialists who use problem-solving and technical skills to solve household maintenance problems. Handymen complete tasks that are not complex enough to require certified professionals, such as electricians, while not simple enough to do without relevant technical knowledge.
Our customers range from private householders, landlords of tenanted properties, and small local businesses. Applicants must be able to work unsupervised and have a good customer manner.
The successful applicant must have their own vehicle to be able to use within the role. They must have sufficient basic tools to undertake a wide variety of simple handyman jobs.
Applicants will need to be able to get full CRB clearance for this position.
Initially the post will be part time, but full time work may become available should the successful applicant want the additional hours. Hours will be agreed with applicant, and due to the nature of the work, the applicant must be flexible in their working hours / days.
Not all Handymen have the same skills, experience and abilities. Please try to give as much details as possible of the various skills you are able to undertake at a high Handyman standard. Good Joinery skills would be an advantage but not essential for the right applicant.
A sample of our recent works include; hang new doors and furniture, repair loft hatch, install loft ladders, reseal shower tray/bath, replace garden gate, install smoke alarms, replace toilet, replace toilet flush assembly, internal painting, lay laminate flooring, re-felt shed roof, replace guttering, replace garden fence, replace door handles and locks, clean gutters, replace double glazed units, unblock sinks, plaster board openings, small plaster and render repairs, replace kitchen doors, replace window sills, install air vents.
Age is not a disadvantage in this position as experience and knowledge is essential
